	Paul Reinders with his STOL CH 701 on Zenair floats in Alaska: "I have upgraded this earlier model 17-year old, 80 horsepower, STOL CH 701 to 1,100 lbs gross weight. It is still on the original 960 floats, and it flies very well. The aircraft will come off the water easily at 1,100 lbs. on a warm day with no winds and no flaps deployed. Normal takeoffs are made with one notch of flaps and the plane really perform well in that configuration. "The aircraft now boasts a total of 29 gallons usable fuel. It has nearly 7 hours of range...you can take care of other needs on a remote lake, but you can't often buy fuel. "Unfortunately, the 29 gallons of fuel, my weight, and the floats limit the number of King Salmon my wife and I can carry at any one time. 	Firman Soenoto of Indonesia flew his STOL CH 701 more than 800 km. from Jakarta, Indonesia to Bali to attend the Bali Buleleng Fly In 2006 event in September 2006. For this cross-country trip in the island nation of Indonesia, the early model STOL CH 701 was fitted with a temporary auxiliary fuel tank in the cabin (earlier models of the STOL CH 701 had a 11-gal. main header tank. Dual welded-aluminum wing tanks now replace the original header fuel tank.) This early model STOL CH 701 has been retrofitted with a 80-hp Jabiru 2200 engine.
