Starting at the Zenith kit aircraft factory
in Mexico, Missouri on Saturday morning (July 26, 2008) our annual trip took
to
EAA
AirVenture at Oshkosh, Wisconsin
(KOSH) is about 400 miles (or 650 km.) away, which makes
it an excellent day trip for the "low and slow" STOL series aircraft. |
|
Day One: Mexico, Missouri (KMYJ)
to Oshkosh (KOSH). We decided to fly all three STOL aircraft
together: STOL CH 801 (left), the
new STOL CH 750, and the
STOL CH 701 (right).
|
|
We had a late start due to fog and low level cloud cover... The
STOL CH 750 takes the lead, followed by the 701.
We stopped briefly at Galesburg, Illinois (GBG),
and again at Dodge County before flying the VFR approach into Oshkosh. |

|
Also new at EAA AirVenture: The
Zodiac CH 650 (which was flown in from Georgia). |
|
The introduction of the STOL CH 750 was a great success at
EAA AirVenture.

The annual Builders Dinner gathering was held on Thursday evening, with
visitors from as far away as Australia.
The EAA AirVenture fly-in is home to the Zenair Builders Dinner, held
every year during the convention. |

Heading home from Oshkosh on Monday morning (August 4).
The faster STOL CH 801 went on ahead, while the 701 and 750 were delayed
by weather for a few hours at
Middleton
airport (Morey Field), then on to Galesburg, Illinois (GBG),
and home to Mexico, Missouri (KMYJ) |
